Widow and Orphan Children Food Distribution

Orphans in need have launched a food pack project "Widow & Orphan Children Food Distribution" in order to help such widows and orphans. A donation of £30 a month (Just £1 a day), will help us provide a food pack containing vital essentials for an average sized family. Foods are selected according to local availability and taste – however we ensure that foods selected are nutritionally beneficial and sufficient for the whole month.

We have over 2,000 such widows and their families, waiting for your generous support. You can donate your Zakat, Sadakah, Lillah or any other donation towards the Widow & Orphan Children Food Distribution Project. Each food pack unit contains all the essentials for 30 days.
Throughout the developing world it is a common theme that the vast majority of those living below the poverty line are the widows and their children. The economic, cultural or social reality is such that the man is the main breadwinner. If these men die then the widows and children left behind struggle to eke out an existence by begging help from others. Often the women and even their children are exploited by unscrupulous criminals taking advantage of their situation.

The orphaned children have no choice but to go out and either beg or work. Even if they get some work, they are often exploited because of their age and literally receive pennies for working long days in often dangerous circumstances. They have no choice as the alternative is starvation. Busying themselves with education, play or other childhood pursuits is a luxury they cannot afford. If their mothers were provided with enough food for the family, then the burden of bringing in money to feed the hungry mouths would be lifted from these children. It would give them the hope and ability to go to school and reclaim their childhood.

The costs of the Food Packs are:

12 Months       £360.00

6 Months         £180.00

3 Months         £90.00

1 Month          £30.00

For less then a £1 a day, you can help a widow and her children

Your donation of £30 will typically provide a whole family with a month’s supply of:

  • Rice
  • Flour
  • Oil
  • Lentils / pulses
  • Spices
  • Tea
  • Sugar
  • Vegetables
  • Soap & sanitation products
  •
Countries of Operation:

  • India
  • Pakistan
  • Malawi

Helping the weak and poor in general, but especially the widows and orphans, is one of the easiest ways to attain the pleasure of the Almighty. When we consider the innumerable bounties he has bestowed upon us – let us do those actions that please him the most. When we consider how much we spend on our own selves and families – let us help bring a smile back on the faces of the needy.

Abu Hurayra (r.a) reported that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), said:

The person who strives on behalf of the widows and poor is like those who strive in the way of Allah, and like those who fast in the day and pray at night.

Little Hearts of the World Event - Feedback

On the 17th of March, Rio Grande, Bradford was transformed into an amazing platform, bringing together amazing music, dinner and inspirational talks with an emotion provoking gallery reception.

Orphans In Need organised their first ever fundraising dinner and this was of a grand scale. Performances were included by London based, Ali Abbas, Hassen Rasool, Mikhael Mala & local artist Imani Hekima. All the artists had been carefully selected to convey an artistic, positive and contemporary style of unique Islamic music. George Galloway was also be given centre stage to create awareness on the importance of helping orphans across the world and encourage the public to support the worthy cause. The quirky elements really engaged the audience and made them become part of the Orphan Village project.

Aiming to raise £40K, but finishing with just over £66K, confirms not only the success of the evening, but the generosity and unity of everyone who attended, sponsored, organised, volunteered, donated and took part in making the night a truly memorable one for all the orphans in need.

Little Hearts of the World Event March 17th 2012

Orphans In Need have put together their first ever Fundraising Dinner, raising funds to help Orphaned Children & Widowed Women.

The event will bring people together to enjoy a wide variety of music, nasheeds, performances, all concentrating on creating a positive & spiritual ambience.

Orphans In Need have a number of worthy projects, projects that really highlight the support we can provide to some of the world’s most vulnerable people. The main project we will be focusing on will be the “Orphan Village.” The village will have 24, 5 bedroom houses. 4 bedrooms will home 3 Orphaned children each and the 5th bedroom will home a Widowed Women, who’s main role will be to look after the children, with the help of a care taker.

Quirky / Emotional / Creative / Elegant / Spiritual : are a few of the words I would use to describe the event....

We have a lot of fun, quirky things happening to really engage the audience and to make each person who attends, feel part of this project. (it’s not the usual fundraising dinner)

It would be amazing to see you, your family and friends joining us.
