Widow and Orphan Children Food Distribution

Orphans in need have launched a food pack project "Widow & Orphan Children Food Distribution" in order to help such widows and orphans. A donation of £30 a month (Just £1 a day), will help us provide a food pack containing vital essentials for an average sized family. Foods are selected according to local availability and taste – however we ensure that foods selected are nutritionally beneficial and sufficient for the whole month.

We have over 2,000 such widows and their families, waiting for your generous support. You can donate your Zakat, Sadakah, Lillah or any other donation towards the Widow & Orphan Children Food Distribution Project. Each food pack unit contains all the essentials for 30 days.
Throughout the developing world it is a common theme that the vast majority of those living below the poverty line are the widows and their children. The economic, cultural or social reality is such that the man is the main breadwinner. If these men die then the widows and children left behind struggle to eke out an existence by begging help from others. Often the women and even their children are exploited by unscrupulous criminals taking advantage of their situation.

The orphaned children have no choice but to go out and either beg or work. Even if they get some work, they are often exploited because of their age and literally receive pennies for working long days in often dangerous circumstances. They have no choice as the alternative is starvation. Busying themselves with education, play or other childhood pursuits is a luxury they cannot afford. If their mothers were provided with enough food for the family, then the burden of bringing in money to feed the hungry mouths would be lifted from these children. It would give them the hope and ability to go to school and reclaim their childhood.

The costs of the Food Packs are:

12 Months       £360.00

6 Months         £180.00

3 Months         £90.00

1 Month          £30.00

For less then a £1 a day, you can help a widow and her children

Your donation of £30 will typically provide a whole family with a month’s supply of:

  • Rice
  • Flour
  • Oil
  • Lentils / pulses
  • Spices
  • Tea
  • Sugar
  • Vegetables
  • Soap & sanitation products
  •
Countries of Operation:

  • India
  • Pakistan
  • Malawi

Helping the weak and poor in general, but especially the widows and orphans, is one of the easiest ways to attain the pleasure of the Almighty. When we consider the innumerable bounties he has bestowed upon us – let us do those actions that please him the most. When we consider how much we spend on our own selves and families – let us help bring a smile back on the faces of the needy.

Abu Hurayra (r.a) reported that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), said:

The person who strives on behalf of the widows and poor is like those who strive in the way of Allah, and like those who fast in the day and pray at night.
